Three Ways To Make Extra Money as a High Schooler

By Matilda Cox '24

1) Depop, Poshmark, and eBay

You can use apps like Depop to sell your clothes, jewelry, and other miscellaneous items. All you do is snap a few pictures and write a small caption. App users can purchase items, and boom—you are making money! Depop and Poshmark are great for selling clothes and accessories but are not as great for selling non-clothing items. On EBay, you can sell or buy pretty much anything. It’s useful for selling random items of yours that you don’t need.

2) Swagbucks

Swagbucks is a website that pays you money for filling out surveys from companies and organizations looking to get opinions on their products. Once you rack up enough points, you can trade them in for gift cards or a PayPal deposit! It might take a little while to rack up a good amount of money, but if you have some extra time, you can just do them for fun and make a little bit of money on the side.

3) Use Your Talents

If you have a specific talent, you can use Etsy or other internet marketplaces to sell your work, like art or hand-made jewelry. Additionally, people all over the internet may need help with something that you are great at! You could do anything from hand-writing a birthday card to helping people with fixing their computers.
