Whenever a new year rolls around, I always hear "New year, new me!" While I do look forward to the personal growth and change I will experience in each dawning year, if I'm being honest, the new books that are going to be released are what excite me the most! 2021 has already gifted us with books like We Free the Stars, Lore, and The Gilded Ones, yet this year still has so much to bring! If you need book recommendations, content to explore, or just an escape from our current crazy reality, here are some books that you can expect to debut sometime this year:
SERIES
Chain of Iron by Cassandra Clare
Expected release date: March 2, 2021
Chain of Iron is the sequel to Chain of Gold, both a part of The Last Hours series. Cassandra Clare has written many other Shadowhunters novels including The Dark Artifices series, The Mortal Instruments series, and The Infernal Devices. This book full of danger and romance follows James and Cordelia as they track down a serial murderer.
Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo
Expected release date: March 30, 2021
Rule of Wolves is the finale in the King of Scars Duology. This book is the newest member of the Grishaverse, following series like Shadow and Bone (making a Netflix debut in April!) and Six of Crows. Characters Nikolai Lantsov, Zoya Nazyalensky, and Nina Zenik must band together to prevent their nation from crumbling and falling into darkness.
Heartstopper: Volume 4 by Alice Oseman
Expected release date: May 13, 2021
Heartstopper: Volume 4 is the newest graphic novel in this series. It includes a friend to lovers trope as Charlie and Nick explore their blooming romance, while Charlie grapples with a potential eating disorder. It is perfect for fans of Love, Simon and The Art of Being Normal, and it has been optioned to debut on tv!
The Box in the Woods by Maureen Johnson

Maureen Johnson is known for her chilling young-adult murder mysteries. The Box in the Woods is the fourth book in the Truly Devious series and tells the story of Stevie Bell, an amateur sleuth, who works with her friends from Ellingham academy to solve the Box in the Woods murder at Barlow corners.
Gods & Monsters by Shelby Mahurin

The awaited conclusion to the Serpent & Dove trilogy joins Lou, Reid, Beau, and Coco, the French witches who battle with evil. Fans of Sarah J. Maas will enjoy this series, and the fantasy and romance in this book will leave the audience captivated.

The Ones We're Meant to Find by Joan He

The two main characters, Cee and Kasey, come from very different backgrounds. Cee is on an abandoned island with her only memory being of her sister, while Kasey is a STEM prodigy grappling with her trust in science. This sci-fi thriller is said to be reminiscent of We Were Liars.

Daughter of Sparta by Claire M. Andrews
